Museum Collections
The museum’s collections consist of sculptures, drawings, and archival materials owned by the foundation, as well as Pullinen’s private art collection. In addition to the outdoor works installed in the surrounding area, the archive of the Laila Pullinen Sculpture Park & Home Museum includes an extensive collection of Pullinen’s drawings, graphic works, tools, photographs, slides, poems, documents, press clippings, and other personal items.
The core collection of the Laila Pullinen Sculpture Park & Home Museum comprises a substantial body of Pullinen’s sculptural work. The sculpture park displays her monumental granite and bronze sculptures. This permanently installed ensemble of around twenty large-scale works focuses primarily on pieces from the 1990s and 2000s, although works from the 1960s onward are also represented.
In addition to the historical manor surroundings and the sculptures situated there, the area includes several site-specific environmental artworks created for Nissbacka. These include the earth relief Muinainen meri (Ancient Sea,1987) and the installation Helsinge-muistomuuri (Helsinge Memory Wall, 2001), which reveals the historical layers of the site through stones salvaged from the foundations of old buildings.
Another part of the core collection is housed in the Granary (originally built as a grain store in 1924), which has been an essential part of the sculpture park since its founding. The Granary hosts a permanent display of significant works from all periods of Pullinen’s career – from small-scale sculptures to monumental pieces – with a particular emphasis on large key works from the 1970s. The collection comprises approximately fifty works.
